Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C. hit by small earthquake
WASHINGTON D.C. The U.S. Geological Survey said a small earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.3 hit the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C., on January 2 at around 12:51 a.m.
The center of the quake was some two miles (about 3.2 kilometers) west of Rockville in Montgomery County, with a preliminary depth of about 9.5 miles (15.3 kilometers).
