Baltimore County school board considers Nottingham Middle as name for new school
Baltimore County Public Schools is asking for public comment on the name Nottingham Middle for a new school in the Northeast region.
The 1,410-seat school is under construction and set to open during the 2024-25 academic year. BCPS issued two community surveys in November that narrowed name options to Nottingham Middle or Northeast Middle.
School board members will hear public comment Jan. 23 before voting on the name in February. Future students of the school will receive a letter in February and March about their new school boundaries set in June. The $116.75 million building is 205,400 square feet.
As part of the nomination criteria, names had to honor a community, subdivision or street on which the school is located, the geographical location of a school, a significant landmark near the school or a deceased, prominent person who made an outstanding contribution to Baltimore County or the United States.
