Marsèll Flagship
Marsèll Flagship is a minimalist space located in Milan, Italy, designed by Lotto Studio. Marsèll, an Italian shoe and accessories brand, has unveiled its first flagship store in Milan’s prestigious Quadrilatero della Moda, crafted in collaboration with Berlin-based Lotto Studio. The store, spanning 400 square meters over two levels, exemplifies a fusion of architectural precision and contemplative spaces, reminiscent of Marcel Breuer’s structured designs and Carlo Scarpa’s introspective settings. The ground floor showcases Marsèll’s men’s and women’s collections and includes a gallery for collaborations and art projects. The basement serves a dual role: displaying the Marsèll Gomme family and hosting various events, from exhibitions to conferences. A notable feature is the walnut bookcase-staircase, bridging the two levels and doubling as an artistic installation.
Material choice was paramount, with a blend of sophistication and simplicity. Travertine and walnut wood demarcate the women’s and men’s areas, respectively. Elements of stainless steel, glass, leather, and Marsèll’s signature colors interplay with translucent fabrics. The innovative walls, a mix of cement and pebble grit from the Brenta River, outline a versatile interior that caters to artists and creatives. Marco Cima, Creative Director and Founder of Marsèll, emphasizes their material-centric approach, blending design and craftsmanship. The store’s design mirrors Marsèll’s ethos and products, striving for a balance of elements to create a space that transcends typical categorization. This reflects Marsèll’s philosophy, developed over two decades, aiming to offer an environment that encapsulates the brand’s identity in a distinctive, yet timeless manner.
