Helen Skelton & Richie Myler officially divorced after she was accused of ‘dragging her heels’ over ending 10yr marriage
HELEN Skelton and Richie Myler are officially divorced ending their ten-year long union.
The divorce was finalised and made legal in December, two years after Helen first filed to end the marriage.
40 year old Helen separated from her former rugby player beau in April 2022 just four months after the pair welcomed their third child together, daughter Elsie.
The confirmation that the marriage has come to an end comes months after reports that BBC Morning Live host Helen was delaying signing the papers, despite receiving a decree nisi, and was accused of “dragging her heels” over proceedings.
Confirming that the divorce had been made final, a source told the Mail Online: “Helen and Richie are legally divorced.
“Their marriage was declared over at the end of December, so finally both parties can move on and start the New Year afresh.”
Helen and Richie, 33, wed in 2013 and share three children together.
Shortly after their split, it was revealed that the Leeds Rhinos ace had moved on with new girlfriend Stephanie Thirkill, also 33, the daughter of his rugby club’s president, Andrew Thirkill.
Within 12 months the new couple had welcomed their own daughter, Olivia.
The confirmation of the divorce is likely to come as a welcome relief after the Mail Online reported in October that Richie had been left frustrated over Helen’s apparent ‘unwillingness’ to finalise proceedings which were “preventing him from moving forward with his life.”
Sources told the publication at the time that it wasn’t clear why Helen appeared to be refusing to cooperate and said that “nobody can understand her continued delay.”
Helen and Richie continue to co-parent their daughter as well as the older sons, Ernie, eight, and Louis, six.
Now settled with new partner Stephanie, Helen faced a fresh blow when it was revealed that her ex was building his dream home for his new family.
Richie recently shared an Instagram post to confirm that he was working on the epic project just days before the divorce was made final.
