THE world’s smallest truck fits in the bed of another truck ‘but gets more attention than any Ferrari’ despite being basic inside.
The Daihatsu Midget II, which weighs only 1,213 pounds, actually fits inside the bed of another mid sized truck.
Now a motors expert has said that the tiny truck “gets more attention than a Ferrari” despite being one of the slowest vehicles he had ever driven.
The motor, launched in 1997, is perfect for any driver who needs to navigate tiny alleyways and rat runs in a city centre.
The two door single seat truck will reach a top speed of 60 mph and can carry a decent load, despite its comical appearance.
And the Midget is even more ridiculous when compared to some the mighty SUV trucks that dominate the market in America.
The Daihatsu Midget II is the sequel to the original Midget, which was basically a motorised rickshaw. It’s tiny scale was ideal for big cities across south east Asia. The motor then arrived in Europe.
Now TikTok channel Battles Digital has profiled the Midget, highlighting its unique scale and appearance.
The expert concludes that although its one of the most “pitifully slow” motors he has ever driven, its also one of his all time favourites.
Daihatsu, a Toyota-owned company, shut down its production lines a week after suspending shipments on all of its 64 models in and outside of Japan.
Safety tests irregularities in over 64 models – 24 of which are sold with Toyota branding – first triggered an independent examination.
Transport ministers soon after launched a deeper probe, which led to a complete halt in manufacturing and the closure of its plants until the end of January.
Daihatsu’s headquarters in Japan’s capital of Osaka was the last to close on December 25 following shutdowns in Oita, Shiga and Kyoto.
The safety results were said to be falsified over three decades because of pressure to keep production rolling, BBC reports.
