Biden Rule Change May Leave Pro-Life Doctors Without Conscience Protections
On Tuesday, the Department of Health and Human Services rescinded, in part, a 2019 Trump-era rule that protected the conscience rights of healthcare workers. The Trump-era rule, if implemented, would have given healthcare workers the ability to seek meaningful recourse if they were forced to violate their ethical and religious beliefs.
If a healthcare provider refuses to participate in abortion or assisted suicide, the only recourse is to file a complaint with President Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services. The Biden rule change is likely to leave people more vulnerable to being forced to participate in procedures that violate their conscience.

“President Biden is once again showing his allegiance to pro-abortion groups and their demands,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “His administration is willing to trample on the rights of millions of healthcare workers by changing a rule designed to protect them from having to perform abortions against their religious or ethical convictions.”
She added, “This administration has been more than willing to comply with the demands of pro-abortion groups and their allies.”
Ironically, the HHS rule change says it will “strengthens protections against conscience and religious discrimination.”
