As Uttarayan approaches, efforts to prevent bird injuries from lethal manja have begun. NGOs and voluntary organizations are receiving around 30 rescue calls daily. The forest department will rescue and treat birds until January 20. Intern veterinary doctors will assist in the activities. The number of rescue calls is lower compared to previous years.
