‘Why would anyone buy them?’ M&S divides opinion as they release ‘perfectly poached eggs’ – and they’re £2 for two
IT’S something that a lot of people struggle with – getting the perfect poached egg.
And Marks & Spencer has taken full advantage of that, by releasing “perfectly poached eggs” that you just need to heat up in the microwave.
Kay took to TikTok to share a slideshow of some “new M&S finds”, including the eggs.
“Look a little strange but perfect if you’re in a rush,” she said of the eggs, which come in some kind of liquid.
They also cost £2 for two eggs – with lots of people taking to the comments section to complain about the price.
“In Lincolnshire I buy 13 double yolkers from a local lady for £2.50!!” one wrote.
To which Kay replied: “Yeah the price of them is ridiculous!”
“Not just eggs, M and S eggs,” another commented.
“£2 jesus!”
“For the love of god, does everything come as a ready meal,” a third raged.
“Erm 2 quid for 2 f**king eggs,” someone else said.
“It takes 3 mins to poach an egg!” another pointed out
“Literally just poach an egg yourself,” someone else said.
As another commented: “Why would anyone buy them? Christ on a bike!”
But someone else replied, writing: “We buy them for my mum.
“She has vascular dementia and is unable to use the cooker.
“We try and help maintain some level of independence for her as she is able to make a sandwich, so the eggs are perfect because she doesn’t always want help.”
Other new M&S arrivals included liquid egg whites, a naked chicken katsu, which makes a perfect “high protein lunch”.
There are also some protein breakfast pots, as well as a “new gut shot”, which were totally sold out.
And for those who like a savoury snack, there were barbecue or sweet chilli high protein rice cakes and new “trail mix/nuts/high protein chilli cheese clouds”.
