Bel Air house fire causes about $150k in damage
A Wednesday evening fire in Bel Air caused about $150,000 in damage, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
At 5:46 p.m., the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company responded to a house fire at a two-story Cape Cod-style home in the 2400 block of Conowingo Road, according to the fire marshal news release. It took about 10 minutes and 50 firefighters to control the blaze in the second-floor bedroom.
No one was injured in the fire, according to the release, but four adults were displaced.
“The owner and her granddaughter were home when they discovered a fire within the bedroom,” the release reads. “The majority of the fire was contained to a bedroom with extensive smoke, soot, and water damage throughout the home.”
The fire marshal’s office ruled that the fire was accidental and caused by electrical failure. The estimated loss was about $75,000 in the house’s structure and another $75,000 in the home’s contents.
