Team India needs to buckle up their bowling lineup ahead of T20 World Cup 2024, opines Irfan Pathan
Irfan Pathan, a legendary all-rounder from India, believes that before the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, India should bolster their bowling attack. It is announced that the much anticipated competition will take place in June in the USA and the West Indies.
According to Pathan, India often does remarkably well at the bat in Twenty20 international cricket. But he also mentioned the Men in Blue’s miserable performance in the 2022 tournament in Dubai, explaining why India should examine their bowling assault in the next ICC event.
“T20 cricket gives you the license to be a bit more aggressive with the bat and play with a fearless mindset. However, what I feel is more important with respect to India’s performances in Dubai against Pakistan & in Australia in the semifinal against England, the bowling needs to be strengthened. Until we do that, we won’t win big tournaments,” Pathan told Star Sports.
“You need to have five proper wicket-taking bowlers and at least three-four of them should be able to bowl at any phase in the game, especially when a breakthrough is needed during a dangerous partnership. If we can find such bowlers, the World Cup isn’t far away,” he added.
