Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed plans for a survey to be conducted on a potential new railway line linking Nilagiri in Balasore district to Betnoti in Mayurbhanj district. The announcement was made during the inaugural run of the first passenger train from Nilagiri station to Balasore station. Vaishnaw also disclosed that the detailed project report (DPR) for the Jaleswar-Chandaneswar new line, spanning approximately 35km, has been initiated. This new rail connection will link the Chandaneswar Shiv temple and nearby Talsari and Digha beaches are also situated nearby.
