TikTok prankster says he ‘wants to change’ now he’s been released from prison
An online prankster has apologised for the ‘wild and reckless’ stunts that landed him in prison, saying he wants to change following his release.
Bacari-Bronze O’Garro, 19, who goes by the name ‘Mizzy’ on TikTok, became notorious last year for a sequence of videos that saw him, among other things, break into people’s homes and ask strangers if they ‘wanted to die.’
In November, a judge finally sentenced him to 18 weeks in prison for having broken an earlier two-year court order that meant he was forbidden from trespassing and from filming unless people featured in the footage had provided him with prior consent.
The father-of-one has since been released after serving just six weeks, and has said in his first interview upon being freed that he plans to turn his life around.
He told London Live: ‘I acknowledge that [my actions] were wrong, and they shouldn’t be done.
‘It sunk in that “ah, man’s actually doing crazy stuff”. When I watched the [videos] back, I’ve been like “oh that’s not very nice is it?”
‘I’ve learnt a lot, but mainly to be empathetic. If I had empathy from the start, then none of this would really have happened. I would have been like “this is bad, what am I doing?”’
He went on to apologise to victims of his online pranks, saying: ‘I didn’t mean for it to get out of hand.
‘I was just having fun. In my circumstances, being a young father and trying to make it out of what I’ve been put into, I just done whatever I could do.
‘But it wasn’t right at the end of the day. It wasn’t right. And I do acknowledge that.
‘I feel like I wasn’t empathetic to other people, and now that’s changed.’
O’Garro added he hasn’t necessarily ruled out the possibility of making further prank videos in the future, but stressed that this would be in a way that didn’t cause harm or upset to those featured in them.
He said: ‘I don’t really need to do pranks in the way I’ve done them before, in wild, reckless manners.
‘I’m gonna try to change it for the better, and do more public videos that are, let us say, more welcoming to people… more influencer stuff, more music, boxing, try to get things back into shape.’
