The 9 biggest snubs from the 2024 Oscar nominations

Despite being an internet sensation, Bowser's ballad to Princess Peach in "The Super Mario Brothers Movie," performed masterfully by Jack Black, did not get any love from the Academy.

DiCaprio delivered one of his most complex performances playing greedy husband Ernest Burkhart, but apparently, it wasn't enough for the Oscars. Not even withstanding slaps from a paddle at the hands of Robert De Niro could get him over the line with Academy voters.

However, if you asked him about the snub, we're sure he would be mostly thrilled that his costar, Lily Gladstone, nabbed the nomination for best actress.

Here's where the snubs really start to hurt. Despite "Barbie" being a massive sensation in 2023, its star, Robbie, wasn't recognized by voters.

Robbie's omission will likely go down as one of the Oscars' biggest misses ever.

This was another complete shocker.

Warner Bros. had been trying to bring Barbie to the big screen for decades. Gerwig, along with star and producer Robbie, finally cracked the code.

So it's puzzling how she didn't get recognized for her efforts in navigating this iconic IP to box-office glory — especially considering that the Academy deems it worthy of a best picture nomination.

At least Gerwig still scored a nod for best adapted screenplay.

"The Color Purple" features an amazing cast, incredible musical numbers, and a backing from Oprah. But at the end of the day, it was shut out of the biggest prize.

This is another big head-scratcher. Oscars, you have to do better.
