Legislative Business
Began the Rule 14 process to place the following bill on the Legislative Calendar of Business:
1. H.R.6914 - Pregnant Students’ Rights Act
At a time to be determined by the Majority Leader in consultation with the Republican Leader, no later than January 31, 2024, if S.J.Res.50 is discharged from the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, it is in order for Senator Tillis or his designee to move to proceed to the consideration of S.J.Res.50. If the motion is agreed to, there will be up to 10 hours of debate equally divided between the proponents and opponents of the Joint Resolution. Upon the use or yielding back of that time, the Joint resolution be read a third time, and the Senate vote on passage of the Joint Resolution. All other provisions under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, remain in effect except the 60 session day clock.
If the Senate receives a veto message on S.J.Res.38, it will be considered as having been read and be printed in the Record and spread in full upon the Journal. Notwithstanding Rule 22, the veto message will be considered at a time to be determined by the Majority Leader in concurrence with the Republican Leader prior to January 31, 2024. There will be up to 2 hours for debate equally divided between the two Leaders or their designees. Then, the Senate will vote on passage of the joint resolution, the objections of the President to the contrary notwithstanding.
S.J.Res.38 - providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Federal Highway Administration relating to "Waiver of Buy America Requirements for Electric Vehicle Chargers".
