Super Bowl 2024: Who won the coin toss? (hint: it failed!)
The coin has been tossed at Super Bowl 58 and heads has prevailed. The Kansas City Chiefs deferred after winning the toss as the San Francisco 49ers called tails.
The Chiefs snapped an eight-year streak last year by winning both the Super Bowl coin toss and the game that followed. So we can go ahead and call off the “Kiss of Death” this year in Las Vegas.
That doesn’t mean there wasn’t plenty of intrigue surrounding the coin toss, however.
The simple act of flipping a commemorative coin to see who gets the ball first in the title game is one of the first — and fastest — things you can bet on for the big game.
Over at BetMGM, heads to win the coin toss (-105) was the most-bet novelty prop at the sportsbook with 53 percent of all wagers, however 55 percent of all money wagered was on tails.

Curious why the coin toss odds weren’t paying out even money? There’s a good explanation for that here.
