In Strongest Position – Portsmouth Star Makes Promotion Admission

Portsmouth star Sean Raggett believes that his team are in the strongest position they have ever been since his arrival in 2019 but the requirement is to focus on one game at a time and win each of them.

 

With more than half of the League One season already over, Pompey sit comfortably on top, enjoying a lead of six points over second-placed Derby County.

 

Having been at the club since the summer of 2019, Raggett insists that he is witnessing the best possible showing from his team and they are right in the mix to earn automatic promotion to the Championship.

 

 

 

“Now know we are still right there this year and definitely in the strongest position since I have been here”, Raggett told the BBC.

 

However, the Portsmouth man urged caution and insists that John Mousinho and his team are taking one game at a time knowing the quality of the teams that are around and their ability to catch up.

 

 

“I think we are taking one game at a time. I know it is a bit of cliche with us footballers. But you definitely do. It is just safe to take one game at a time.

 

“Especially when you see the teams that are sort of around us, some really good top teams.

 

 

“And you feel like you have got to go and win every single game.

 

“Otherwise they are going to catch up with you.”

 

Portsmouth now have successive games at Fratton Park to look forward to with Cambridge United and Reading set to provide the opposition.
