Victim of Rensselaer train accident identified
RENSSELAER, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Rensselaer Police Department announced that the victim of a train accident that occurred on February 10 has been identified. Police say Linda Ryan, 69, of Rensselaer, was fatally struck by an Amtrak passenger train around 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
The accident reportedly took place near South Street and Second Avenue. Police stated the incident appears to be a tragic accident at this time, though the investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact the Rensselaer Police Department Detective’s Office at (518)462-7451. Police have urged the public to utilize crossings such as the Columbia Street bridge, the Third Avenue bridge and the Broadway viaduct in order to safely traverse railroad tracks in the city.
