I bought a 53ft trailer to use as a storage unit – now I’m turning it into a DIY tiny home so I can quit city life
A WOMAN with a creative mindset bought a 53 ft trailer with the original purpose of using it as a storage unit but now has a new plan.
She revealed that she is turning it into a tiny home and trading in the city life for quiet.
Ella Harmony Woods (@elleharmonywoods) is ready to leave city life behind on her terms and embrace sustainable living.
She told viewers about her future unconventional tiny home in a TikTok video before the family began renovations.
“Follow along as we turn this 53ft semi truck trailer into a home on wheels,” Ella said as she stood outside of the large vehicle.
They bought the trailer over six months ago and planned to use it as a storage unit but said, “Things have changed.”
“We’ve decided to pursue our dream of moving to a sustainable community, and this is gonna be our house,” she explained.
Ella gave an in-depth tour and showed where rooms would be and their corresponding doors.
As she walked up the main steps, she said that would be the door that would be used most often.
Once the camera panned inside, it was filled with miscellaneous things, which makes sense considering how it was used as a storage unit.
There were floor-to-ceiling shelves filled with boxes, paperwork, and other personal belongings.
“This whole back half of the trailer is going to be packed full of our belongings to drive across the country,” she explained.
Ella and her family are planning on driving with the trailer across the country as they simultaneously transform it into their living space.
She also panned across a cluttered space that “believe it or not” is going to be the kitchen.
Lastly, she showed a back corner that already had a wall up and the door-sized hole cut out that would be the bedroom.
On her TikTok channel, Ella will continue posting their progress on the DIY project as they navigate life on the rural homestead.
“We can’t wait to show you guys the beautiful land!” she wrote in the video caption.
