Trump continues bragging about Trucker protest in NYC — despite it not happening

Donald Trump spent much of Tuesday sharing articles about a trucker boycott that reportedly aims to shut down New York City in protest of the $355 million fraud trial judgment the former president was hit with Friday.

But there's a problem with his brags of the direct action — it's not happening.

Trump supporters took to social media over the weekend in an effort to convince truckers to boycott the state of New York and disrupt its economy.

But as calls for the boycott picked up steam across social media, truckers began to weigh in. One trucker on TikTok said the boycott simpIy is "not happening."

And even the supposed organizer backed off the action Monday.

"Just to be clear," Chicago Ray, who launched the calls for action and soon after deleted them, posted on Twitter. "I'm no figurehead of any movement. I'm not leading, nor have I encouraged, or am I encouraging anyone to do anything other than what they were doing prior to the ruling Friday in New York City.

"I'm just a trucker who heard chatter and posted it on Twitter, nothing more than that."

According to a trucker going by the TikTok handle "bluecollar_trucker," drivers may want to avoid going to the state for other reasons, such as crime, traffic, and lack of parking.

"This trucker strike, nobody's talked to me about it and I know a lot of other guys on other platforms like, 'Yeah, no, we've never talked about it either.' So one it's not happening, there's no strike against New York City — not over the Trump case, but more and more people are refusing to go because of other issues," the trucker said.

Another TikTok user, samuraiblaq2.0, also said he hasn't heard anything about a Trump-influenced boycott, but also stated other reasons that truckers are avoiding the state.

"The main reason why most truckers are not going to New York City is because of the ... laws that are put in place, especially now the fact that we got to pay tolls within the city," he said.

"I've been on the radio talking to drivers for about the past hour and I've talked to about 10 drivers," X user Chicago Ray had said in the original — and now deleted post. "I don't know how far across the country this is or how many truckers are going to start denying loads going to New York City, but I'll tell you what — you f--- around and find out."
