Budapest Airport and Ryanair elevate partnership with fleet expansion and route additions
Budapest Airport confirms significant expansion in collaboration with Ryanair, as the airline’s CEO Michael O’Leary officially announced new routes, increased frequencies, and two new based aircraft during today’s press conference. Solidifying the prosperous commercial partnership, the Hungarian gateway will see a boost in its full recovery efforts for the upcoming summer and support for further growth beyond this.
During the press conference, the commitment to work together to deliver enhanced travel options and exceptional services to those travelling from Budapest was highlighted. Underlining the key points of the expansion, O’Leary announced:
- New Aircraft: the introduction of two new based aircraft since S23, taking the total to 10 and signifying a milestone in the partnership.
- New Routes: six new connections on the airline’s network from Budapest, offering passengers more diverse travel options.

In 2019, the airline served 1.553 million domestic passengers, and by 2023, this figure surged to an impressive 4.144 million, marking an outstanding 33% increase and demonstrating impressive growth and operational success at Budapest.
