‘I know him a bit’ – Kulusevski reveals what he told Bergvall about Spurs
Dejan Kulusevski has revealed that spoke to Lucas Bergvall about life at Tottenham Hotspur before the midfielder put pen to paper on a contract with the North London side.
Bergvall is seen by many in Swedish football as the nation’s next potential star, with the 18-year-old dominating the Allsvenskan since breaking into Djurgardens’ starting eleven last year.
There is reportedly plenty of excitement at Tottenham about the youngster’s arrival, with reports over the last few weeks indicating that the teenager will be handed a prominent first-team role next season (Football Insider).
It has been widely reported that Spurs saw off competition from several top sides to land the midfielder, with some sources even suggesting over recent weeks that Kulusevski played a role in convincing his international teammate to make the switch (Fabrizio Romano).
What did Kulusevski tell Bergvall about Tottenham?
When asked what he said to his compatriot, the 23-year-old has now told The Sun: “I met him and it was nice to see him because I know him a bit. I told him the truth, the same as what I tell everyone. How good this club is and the plans for the future.
“I didn’t want to tell him which club to join because that is hard, but it is the first time I’ve played with a Swedish player.”
The fact that young talents like Bergvall and Radu Dragusin chose Spurs is perhaps a clear sign that the club is heading in the right direction under Postecoglou.
When Kulusevski was asked if the project at N17 is now more attractive for potential newcomers, he responded: “Yes, it has changed at the club, absolutely. It has been a fantastic change and now it feels like the club is going on the right path and we are doing the right things.
“We are more focused on better things. It is a different mentality, we have to improve. It is not about we have to win otherwise it’s a catastrophe, it is about improving every day and if things are going to happen they will happen. It is more about the positive things.”

While Kulusevski’s conversation might not have been the main reason Bergvall picked Spurs, it would have certainly played a role in reassuring the youngster that the environment at Hotspur Way is the right one for him to thrive in and fulfil his potential.
