Matthew Craig scored his first professional goal for Doncaster Rovers in their 5-1 thrashing of Grimsby Town over the weekend.
Craig has been impressing for Tottenham’s Under-21s over the last couple of years and the midfielder has been on the cusp of the first team for quite a while, making his senior debut for the club in the final game of last season.
The 20-year-old was loaned out to Doncaster last month in order to get a taste of senior football and he has made an impressive start to his time in League Two.

Craig netted his first goal for the Rovers in his fifth appearance of the club as they routed Grimsby Town at Blundell Park.
The on-loan Tottenham man calmly stroked the ball into the bottom corner from around 15 yards out in the 72nd minute to put his side 4-1 up and essentially kill the game.

It is pleasing to see that Craig is starting every game for Doncaster as the experience of playing competitive football will be invaluable for the 20-year-old’s development.
It is clear that Johan Lange and co have put a lot of work in to find the right loan moves for all youngsters last month, seemingly seeking assurances from clubs that they would play regularly.
