Oklahoma Supreme Court grants oral argument in Tulsa Race Massacre case
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – On Tuesday, February 20, the Oklahoma Supreme Court decided it will hear the Tulsa Race Massacre Survivor reparations case.
The remaining survivors of the Tulsa Race Massacre are still holding on to hope of progress in furthering financial compensation for its victims.
“It’s not just about financial compensation. It's an acknowledgment of our communities collective pain,” says Attorney Jim Lloyd.
In July of 2023, a Tulsa County District Judge dismissed a would be historic reparations case.
“The largest terrorist attack in the history of this country happened right in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We should come together as a state and provide the resources that they need. The state can do it. The state should do it,” said Damario Solomon-Simmons, attorney for the survivors.
Attorney Damario Solomon-Simmons alongside the group appealed the decision to dismiss their reparations case with the Oklahoma Supreme Court and succeeded.
The historical oral arguments are set to begin on April 2.
