Jessica Lange's Rare Return to the Oscars Red Carpet Is Being Celebrated by Fans
It’s not often that Jessica Lange steps out onto a red carpet, especially on Hollywood’s biggest night. But for the 2024 Oscars, the 74-year-old actress made an exception as one of five returning Best Actress winners presenting the award to this year’s honoree, Emma Stone.
Lange looked elegant and chic in her black gown that sparkled from every angle. The long sleeves with a V-neckline cut a gorgeous silhouette as the train pooled gracefully around her legs. She added dazzling diamonds and sapphires from jeweler Martin Katz to add a little next-level touch on her rings and earrings. It was a welcome sight to have Lange back at the Oscars after her two wins — one in 1983 her supporting role in Tootsie, and another in 1995 for starring role in Blue Sky.
Social media users went nuts when they saw Lange arrive on the red carpet because she’s currently killing it on FX’s Feud: Capote vs. the Swans as Truman Capote’s mother, Lillie Mae Faulk,. “Jessica Lange is THE QUEEN!! THE GOAT!!! she is THE MOMENT,” wrote one fan on X. Others wish she would make a return to American Horror Story where her relationship with creator Ryan Murphy first began. “ugh i really missed her time on AHS,” they added. And we love people who celebrate women in all seasons of life, as one fan wrote, “74 where?! Amazing ????.”
If Lange keeps it up though, she might find an Emmy nomination coming her way later this year for Feud: Capote vs. the Swans. Or, perhaps a Tony Award is in her future because she will be back on Broadway in April with Jim Parsons in Mother Play. No matter what, she is thriving, booked, and busy!
The one thing she might long for is the simple days of the Oscars, telling AARP: The Magazine in 2017, “Tootsie turned out to be the best film I ever made. And to win my first Oscar for it was thrilling, not terrifying, the way it might be today. The awards were more casual then. You did your own hair; you did your own makeup. It wasn’t the fashion event of the season.” It may be more complicated to go to the Oscars in 2024, but Lange showed up looking like a true queen!
