Jimmy Kimmel gets an ‘A’ grade from 32% of Oscars watchers [POLL RESULTS]
Perhaps it was the joke mocking Donald Trump for being up past his “jail time.”
Or maybe it was the brilliant line that only true Oscar fans can appreciate: “At what age do you tell a screenplay it was adapted?”
Whatever the case, Jimmy Kimmel has received an “A” grade for hosting the 2024 Oscars from about a third of the people who watched ABC’s ceremony on Sunday, March 10. Congrats, Jimmy! We’re picturing you celebrating this good news while reading MAGA rage tweets and wearing Ryan Gosling‘s super-pink Ken pants.

According to Gold Derby’s immediate poll results, 32% of respondents gave Kimmel an “A” because he was “Brilliant from start to finish.” Next in line, there was a tie for the second place choice with 23.5% support each for “B — I rather liked him” and “F — Awful, awful, awful.” How’s that for a whirlwind? Rounding out the options, 11% voted for “C — He was just okay” and then 10% picked “D — somewhat forgettable.”
This marked Kimmel’s fourth time hosting the annual Academy Awards ceremony after his gigs in 2017, 2018 and 2023. This time around, his jokes focused mostly on the nominated films (such as “Oppenheimer” and “Barbie”) and some of the A-list stars in attendance (like Steven Spielberg and Bradley Cooper … plus Cooper’s mom).
Rather surprisingly, Kimmel mostly stayed away from politics, other than comparing Emma Stone‘s “Poor Things” character to Republican Senator Katie Britt because they are both women “with the brain of a child.” And when Trump wrote his own review on social media of Kimmel’s hosting performance, saying he is “a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not,” Kimmel responded by asking if it was past his “jail time.” That gag seemed to really go over well in the room full of mostly liberal attendees.
