'Let the Patriots go home!' Trump demands Georgia charges 'should be immediately dropped'
Former President Donald Trump demanded that charges be dropped against him and co-defendants in the Georgia election subversion case.
The former president and 18 others were charged in Fulton County with racketeering for their efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss in the state, resulting in four guilty pleas already.
However, Trump insisted the prosecution was tainted by district attorney Fani Willis' personal relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.
"How can Fani Willis possibly oversee a case which is completely compromised and fraudulently brought by her and her highly paid lover?" Trump posted on Truth Social. "She NEVER paid cash as a reimbursement to him. If she did, where did she get the cash, an even bigger problem? She lied in order to get out of a problem. Very easy to prove!"

Fulton County Superior Court judge Scott McAfee is expected to rule this week on whether Willis or Wade should be disqualified from the case over allegations that she misused taxpayer funds and acted unethically, but Trump declared that he'd seen enough to absolve him and his co-defendants.
"Everything should be immediately dropped and let the American Patriots 'go home,'" Trump posted. "Absolve them all from this terrible, and totally disproven, Witch Hunt! ELECTION INTERFERENCE in conjunction with the Crooked Joe Biden DOJ and White House!"
The trial would likely be delayed until after the election if Willis and Wade are disqualified, and the case could possibly fall apart altogether.
Democrat Christian Wise Smith, who has unsuccessfully run for Fulton County district attorney in the past, filed paperwork before last Friday's deadline to challenge Willis in a May 21 primary election, although he indicated his challenge would be more robust if Willis is disqualified.
Self-described "MAGA attorney" Courtney Kramer, who served in the Office of the White House Counsel under Trump and played an active role in Georgia election challenges, also announced her candidacy.
