I’m an interior designer and would never, ever let my clients buy ‘drunk Dr. Seuss furniture’ or my other decor ‘icks’
AN interior designer unleashed her bold beliefs on popular furniture trends, and people are applauding her.
She referred to some styles as drunk, and awkward, and said they looked like buttholes or toilet paper.
TikToker Erin (@nifty.nest) shared her unadulterated opinions when talking about home trends she despised.
“Things if you hired me as your interior designer I would never let you get,” she said at the beginning of the video.
The first item she called out was armless floor chairs.
“I am sorry but these just remind me of cat buttholes,” she said. “I don’t know why.”
The second object open to her ridicule was “anything that is overly tufted.”
“The word that comes to mind is trypophobia on these,” she said.
“Anything that would make me want to refer to you as my liege or your majesty,” Erin added.
Trypophobia is when people are freaked out by clusters of tiny holes, like in honeycombs or sponges, as noted by the Cleveland Clinic.
Erin doesn’t like furniture with tiny legs or hairpin legs, either.
The interior designer said she feels “awkward” when she looks at extremely small chairs, also known as lilliputin.
She can’t get behind barn doors on furniture, a massive trend in farmhouse style, or rustic ranch homes.
Another pass for Erin is wonky, colorful items, which she referred to as: “Drunk Doctor Seuss-type furniture.”
The final pieces on Erin’s no list are “chairs that look like a roll of toilet paper or fur” and anything “overly and intentionally distressed.”
In the comments section, many people said they agreed with the interior designer.
“Overly and intentionally distressed,” reads one of the most popular comments.
“Not a single miss,” a second said.
“I held my breath the whole time but I’m clear,” a third posted.
Erin said, ultimately, it’s all up to a client’s style.
“I never want anyone to think that what makes them happy is a no,” she responded.
“Don’t care what designers say (including me), if you love it, that’s it,” she finished.
