One home evacuated due to small Eugene landslide
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Several Eugene homes are at risk after a small landslide Sunday morning, authorities said.
According to Eugene Springfield Fire, just before 10 a.m. callers on Videra Drive reported a high retaining wall was tipping and pushing up against the side of a home as well as a landslide with broken water lines and a potentially broken gas line.
Working with the City of Eugene, NW Natural and Eugene Water and Electric Board, officials said they are evaluating the area.
As of Monday morning, fire officials said that one home is under a mandatory evacuation with numerous others under a voluntary evacuation warning.
Officials said that rains in the area could have been a factor in the slide and that a geology engineer will be evaluating the scene.
Any further movement of the slide will be slow, officials said.
