I’m pregnant and got dress-coded at the gym – my outfit wasn’t even revealing but the owner’s wife had an issue with it
A PREGNANT fitness fan who was dress-coded at her gym said it was the owner’s wife who took issue with her outfit.
She didn’t think the style was revealing or showed much skin, but it was still an apparent problem for reasons that people think had to do with something else.
Wife Emi Romero (@emiandandrew) maintains a consistent exercise regimen despite being five months pregnant.
She sat in her car and explained how she was dress-coded at her fitness center in a TikTok video partially due to her growing bump.
As a former physique competitor, Emi goes to a bodybuilder gym, filled with mostly men and with images of other competitors in very little clothing and bikinis.
“When I resigned up cause I moved back to the area, they told me that they have a new dress code, where they don’t allow sports bras,” she said.
She thought it was a strange new rule but brushed it aside.
“I’m having a hard time dressing right now that I’m pregnant, so I’m wearing this tank top today,” she added before she showed a photo.
Because of her growing stomach, the tank top rode up slightly to reveal a sliver of skin around her middle.
The whole time while she was working out the owner’s wife was just staring her down.
Eventually, the gym owner came by and made small talk before saying that she had an issue with her top.
She replied that she wasn’t wearing a sports bra and he said he knew that but his spouse thought it was “hard to differentiate what’s a sports bra.”
He told her she had two choices – leave or put on a top, which shocked and embarrassed her.
She looked around and saw other women with their stomachs out and wearing short athletic bottoms but nothing was said to them.
Emi tried to be respectful but felt it was “pretty offensive” and didn’t want to continue being a gym member somewhere where she felt like how she did.
In the end, she called it “the most awkward, uncomfortable encounter.”
Many viewers agreed that there was an ulterior motive as to why she was dress-coded.
“The wife didn’t have an issue with your outfit.. she had an issue with you being unbelievably gorgeous,” one commented.
“Cancel that membership and leave a review with your picture in the outfit attached. That lady needs therapy if she thinks that’s an issue,” another TikTok user wrote.
“You’re definitely a topic at their dinner table. His wife‘s a hater because you’re gorgeous,” a woman said.
