BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty brutally shuts down Carol Kirkwood after blunder – as fans dub her ‘silent assassin’
NAGA Munchetty brutally shut Carol Kirkwood down on BBC Breakfast this morning, leaving viewers in stitches.
The Scottish weatherwoman, 61, had finished delivering the UK forecast for today when she confessed she was losing track of time this week.
She asked her fellow presenters if they were experiencing the same issue, saying: “Naga and Charlie, I don’t know about you, I keep thinking it’s Wednesday today, not Thursday.”
Naga often enjoys playful banter with Carol, and delivered the stern comeback: “No, it’s just you.”
An embarrassed Carol responded: “It probably is!”
The women then descended into fits of giggles before Charlie Stayt queried: “Why do you think it’s Wednesday, Carol?”
She sheepishly admitted: “I don’t know, Charlie. I woke up this morning thinking it’s Wednesday and I still have this in my brain that it’s Wednesday. But it’s not, it’s Thursday.”
“What I suggest is you keep thinking it’s Wednesday and then come in tomorrow and imagine it’s Thursday. So we’ll see you tomorrow, Carol, as well…” Naga joked.
The newsreader was praised by BBC Breakfast viewers this morning for her interviewing skills as she quizzed Michael Gove about racist comments made by the Tory party’s biggest donor.
Frank Hester allegedly said looking at Diane Abbott made him “want to hate all black women”.
One person called her a “silent assassin”, adding: “Looks and sounds like butter wouldn’t melt but is very firm and direct with her interviewing. Things you love to see. More Naga please.”
Another agreed: “Well done to Naga in her forensically strong questioning of one of the most slippery Government ministers of the most divisive hate filled Governments we have ever had. BBC protects real British values not this Government. Terrific.”
