Freezing to fabulous, Thursday's weather offers some extremes
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Thursday offers a wide range of temperature extremes.
The day starts with near-freezing temperatures under clear skies, but don't be fooled by the cold. We'll quickly warm up under sunny skies for the afternoon. Daytime highs should reach the low to mid-60s.
An easterly wind is increasing during the day. Through the process of adiabatic warming, that downsloping wind could boost our temperatures Thursday.
Right now we're forecasting 63 for a high in Portland. There's a chance we could get a few degrees warmer. This offshore flow stays with us through the weekend.
A ridge of high pressure is expanding over the PNW through the weekend. Portland could feel its first 70-degree temperature since late October by this Friday. And if the luck of the Irish is on our side we could keep that 70-degree trend going through St. Patty’s Day, Monday, and possibly Tuesday too.
