116,000 semi-trucks recalled nationwide, DOT says
TOPEKA (KSNT) - The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) says thousands of new Kenworth and Peterbilt semi-trucks are being recalled nationwide for safety reasons.
The DOT says the recall was first announced by PACCAR Incorporated on March 8 concerning Peterbilt and Kenworth 2021-2025 semi-trucks. The recall was started due to the chance that the right-hand gear shifter stalk connectors may be improperly crimped, which can result in the vehicle becoming disabled after coming to a stop.
A potential remedy offered by the DOT for the situation involves bringing the recalled semi-trucks to a dealer for inspection and replacement of the gear shifter assembly free of charge. Letters are expected to be dispatched by May 7, 2024, to owners of the recalled vehicles.
In total, this recall impacts more than 116,000 semi-trucks. The full list of recalled Kenworth and Peterbilt semi-trucks can be found below:
