Deputies arrest pair,
seize guns and drugs

A report of two suspicious people in Marin City led to the arrest of a convicted felon who possessed loaded guns and illegal drugs, the sheriff’s department said.

The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. Monday, when sheriff’s deputies detained a suspected shoplifter at the Target store while her male companion attempted to drive away, sheriff’s Sgt. Jesse Martinez, 38, of Antioch was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, methamphetamine possession and evading officers. Lucy Tompkin, 24, of Oakland was arrested on suspicion of fentanyl possession and for arrest warrants from Placer and San Mateo counties.

City picks consultant
for creek bank work

The city is preparing to hire a consulting firm for a project to stabilize the Larkspur Creek bank.

The bank failed along the bike path between the Rose Lane subdivision and Tamiscal High School during heavy storms early last March, according to a staff report by Julian Skinner, the city’s public works director. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved funds for the repairs.

“The anticipated repair solution consists of construction of a sheet pile retaining wall 57 feet in length, shoulder and bank excavation, and re-establishment of vegetation and backfill,” Skinner wrote. “Staff requires professional services including geotechnical, hydrologic, and permitting services to complete the design of the repair work.”

The city has selected Engeo Inc. for the work. A resolution authorizing up to $80,000 for the firm is on the City Council consent agenda for Wednesday, March 20.
