Defender opens up on his ‘sticky’ few years with Spurs – He is now more confident than ever
Joe Rodon has admitted that he is now riding a wave of confidence, revealing that his loan spell at Leeds United has proved pivotal in getting his career back on track.
Rodon was rated as one of the best young centre-backs in the EFL when Spurs bought him from Swansea City back in 2020 but the Welshman never really managed to get regular game time at Tottenham, being overlooked by successive managers.
The 26-year-old made the bold decision to drop down to the Championship last summer, moving to Leeds on a season-long loan deal, and that decision has proven an inspired one, with the centre-back having been one of the best defenders in English football’s second-tier this season.
Rodon is now hoping to get Daniel Farke’s side promoted but it was reported recently by TEAMtalk that the club will look to sign the Tottenham man permanently irrespective of whether they make it to the top-flight.
The same report also added that the centre-back, who is said to be valued at £12m to £15m, was also attracting interest from multiple Premier League sides.

Rodon has now opened up on his struggles at Spurs and admitted that he has thoroughly enjoyed his time at Elland Road so far.
The Wales international told The Mirror: “Over the last couple of years, it’s been sticky. I’ve not had the game time I wanted. I feel confident, probably the best I’ve felt in a long time.
“I’ve loved every minute of [my loan]. The Leeds fans have been absolutely incredible to me. The atmosphere week in and week out was incredible. Even the away games, I’ve never seen anything like it.
“It’s gone so quick but playing every week is only going to give me more confidence as a player. I feel like I’m in a really good place physically and mentally. I’m just excited for this week now and can’t wait to give everything.”

Rodon comes across as someone who needs an arm around his shoulder and it is not surprising that the 26-year-old is now playing his best football after being made to feel important by Daniel Farke.
Tottenham will be hoping to get a bidding war going for the centre-back but the player himself will have the ultimate say over his next destination, given that he will only have a year left on his contract with Spurs.
