I found my dream dress for a friend’s wedding but it’s controversial – some insist it’s too bridal, even my mom says no
A FASHION fan’s dream dress may have to stay in the closet after it was judged too controversial.
It was everything she had ever wished for, but was it appropriate to wear for a friend’s wedding?
Some people insisted it was far too bridal than was decent.
Even her traditional mom said it was a no-brainer.
But still, Angela Pham (@phamgela) clung to the idea that it would be okay for someone else’s nuptials.
She is a commercial photographer who “cooks and collects clothes.”
In this post, one gown in particular was the center of this dress drama.
While she loved everything about it, she was torn.
So she sought the opinion of her TikTok followers.
Was it okay to wear to a wedding, she asked.
Angela was aware it was a “very controversial matter.”
After all, if there is one cardinal rule of weddings everywhere, the bride is never, ever upstaged.
But Angela’s dress was in danger of upsetting that long-held view.
The dress was undeniably gorgeous.
A voluptuous ivory taffeta skirt was topped off with a black, velvet, strapless, bodice top.
It was, she said, “her dream wedding dress.”
But, after fielding the opinions of others, she was beginning to experience misgivings about her choice.
Was it, she asked herself, “permissible as a wedding guest to wear?”

She decided to ask people she trusted the most for their input.
Some said it was fine, but her traditional Vietnamese mom was not happy and said no way was the dress suitable.
Another recently married friend said a “firm no.”
There was no mistaking the views of commenters on her post, and they sided with her mom.
“Why do you need your dream dress for someone else’s wedding? Wear it on your birthday,” suggested one person.
“Someone else’s wedding is not the time to wear your dream dress. Just wear it another time like your birthday,” said a second person.
“The only person wearing a dream dress at a wedding should be the bride,” wrote a third person, matching the general sentiment in the comments section.
