Saint Rose to host Joseph Henry Science Fair for final time
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The College of Saint Rose will be hosting the 38th annual Joseph Henry Science Fair. The event is scheduled for March 22 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The yearly fair features the works of young science enthusiasts in the Albany City School District. Students from grades four through eight will showcase creative projects before a panel of judges, competing for a variety of prizes. Project topics will range from biology and technology to chemistry and physics.
The event is named for American scientist Joseph Henry, who was born in Albany. Henry is known for his work with electromagnetism, which would later serve as the basis for the invention of the electric telegraph.
Henry was also a professor of mathematics and natural philosophy at the Albany Academy and was the first secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. After being home to the event for many years, Saint Rose will host the annual fair for the last time before the college's closure in June.
The fair will be held at the school's Events and Athletics Center, located at 420 Western Avenue. Parking will be available at 432 Western Avenue.
