Mother charged after son killed in Wednesday night car crash
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A mother now faces manslaughter charges after the death of her son in a crash Wednesday, authorities said.
According to Portland police, Angelina L. Minor, 27, was driving on North Lombard Street when she was in a minor crash.
However, instead of stopping, investigators said that Minor continued to drive, eventually crossing over a median and driving in the oncoming traffic until she crashed head-on with another car.
Minor's 4-year-old son was severely injured and later died, officials said.
Minor, her 3-year-old daughter, an adult male passenger, and his 4-year-old daughter were all taken to the hospital with less severe injuries.
The Traffic Investigations Unit who responded to the scene said that extreme intoxication and speed were the causes of the crash and Minor was booked on charges of first-degree manslaughter, third-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, failure to perform duties of a driver and three counts of reckless endangerment.
The incident is still under investigation and police ask anyone with information to contact them.
