The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at the residence of West Bengal minister Chandranath Sinha in Bolpur in Birbhum district in connection with the alleged school recruitment scam. Sinha, who holds the MSME and Textiles portfolios, was not present at his residence during the search. The ED also conducted searches at the residences of businessmen in Kolkata suspected of helping in transferring funds illegally from India to other countries. Sinha, earlier summoned by the CBI in cattle and coal smuggling cases, stated he would cooperate with investigators.
