‘Let’s change the subject’ swipes Charlie Stayt as BBC Breakfast fans call out sign he’s ‘bored’ with Naga Munchetty
CHARLIE Stayt took a swipe at his BBC Breakfast co-star Naga Munchetty as fans pointed out a sign he’s ‘bored’ with her.
The anchors have presented the flagship programme together since 2014 after Susanna Reid departed for Good Morning Britain.
However, eagle-eyed fans have now pointed out a sign he’s becoming ‘bored’ of his 49-year-old co-star.
During the show Charlie, 61, and Naga went through the day’s paper as she picked out an interesting study on the smell of babies and teenagers.
Explaining the research, Naga said: “In order to conduct this experiment, they had to analyse sweat from cotton wool pads that had been sewn into the armpits of clothing and worn at night by 36 participants.
“And what they have found – if at this moment you are trying to get a teenager out of bed – just think of their hormones, because this affects it. When you go into their bedroom and it’s a bit whiffy, it’s because teenagers will smell more of urine, goat’s cheese, peppers and wax.”
She then added to her co-star how “babies smell nice” but he didn’t appear totally amused, asking her: “And who did that research?”
Answering Charlie, Munchetty said: “This was done by scientists at the aroma and smell research facility at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg.”
The topic swiftly came to an end when Charlie asked: “Shall we change the subject?”
For BBC Breakfast fans watching at home, they’ve picked up on signs the seasoned journalist is ‘bored’.
Writing on social media, one said: “You can always tell when Charlie is bored with a topic when he does his long slow sniff before moving on..”
A second wrote: “Charlie having none of it this morning.”
