Lorry crashes into M6 motorway bridge and causes major rush-hour delays
One person was injured after a lorry hit an overbridge on a motorway, causing hour-long delays.
A lorry hit an overbridge on the southbound carriageway on the M6 this morning.
One motorist was rushed to the hospital with a head injury, the ambulance service said.
Two lanes are closed in Cheshire after the smash and traffic is queueing for five miles.
Drivers are warned of one hour delays, National Highways said.
Two lanes out of four are closed on the M6 southbound between junctions J17 (Sandbach) and J16 (Crewe).
Traffic is expected to return to normal by 10.15am, National Highways said.
At 5.25am, National Highways warned that three lanes were shut after the crash.
Highways teams were able to open one more lane shortly before 7am.
Recovery work on the scene continues.
