Rebel Wilson Just Got Candid About Losing Her Virginity & It’s a Sigh of Relief for 'Late Bloomers' Everywhere
Ahead of her first tell-all memoir, Rebel Wilson is already revealing some of the secrets she dives into in the book. And while the first news to hit the headlines was her contentious work relationship with actor Sacha Baron Cohen, another one of Wilson’s confessions has fans even more excited to read the book.
In an excerpt obtained by People, the Pitch Perfect star shares that she lost her virginity at 35 years old, and hopes her story might send a “positive message” to all the “late bloomers” out there.
“People can wait till they’re ready or wait till they’re a bit more mature,” Wilson told the outlet. “And I think that could be a positive message.”
“You obviously don’t have to wait until you’re in your thirties like me, but you shouldn’t feel pressure as a young person,” Wilson continued, adding that “not everybody has to lose their virginity as a teenager.”
But while she’s happy with her decision now, Wilson said she often lied about the subject because she felt “embarrassed.”
“There was one vague time, I think I told my best friend, ‘Oh, yeah, I just did it to just get it over with when I was like 23,'” Wilson remembered. “Just to really avoid the questions.”
In group scenarios, she sometimes avoided the topic altogether. “Normally I would just leave the room when the conversation was happening,” she said. “And then the people that said, ‘Oh, at 24, it’s so late.’ And then I’m sitting here thinking, ‘Oh my god, my number’s 35. What the hell? I’m going to look like the biggest loser.'”
With time, Wilson, who now shares her first daughter, Royce Lillian, with her fiancée Ramona Agruma, passed the milestone and began exploring her sexuality. And, years later, she found out she was attracted to women. “And then only years later, meeting women and having feelings for a woman, and that, I just think it’s a sign of where society kind of was,” Wilson said.
With her family of three now happily established, we’re glad Wilson never rushed to do anything she wasn’t comfortable with. Everyone has their own timing!
