'Why didn’t he do it?' Columnist calls out Trump for being 'ridiculous braggart'
Donald Trump is bragging again that he will improve the Affordable Care Act — but a New York Times columnist reminded the public he's already passed on a chance to do so.
In a Truth Social post this week, the former president denied President Joe Biden's claim that he intends to end Obamacare, and instead insisted he would make the health care law "much, much, much better for far less money."
New York Times columnist Paul Krugman placed that alongside his other meaningless boasts.
"Sometimes the subjects of Trump’s self-congratulation are trivial though revealing: It’s pretty wild to see a man who was and might again be president boasting about winning two golf championships at a club he owns," Krugman wrote. "But sometimes his boasting has real and dire implications for policy that can affect people’s lives."

Krugman conceded that MAGA fans clearly didn't mind his "mangled language and bar-stool belligerence," referencing the Affordable Care Act Truth Social post that was riddled with spelling errors.
But certainly they should remember that Trump has already been president for four years, he wrote.
"If he knows of a way to make the Affordable Care Act 'much, much better for far less money,' why didn’t he do it?" Krugman wrote.
When he did try to produce an alternative, many of Trump's own supporters would have lost their health insurance, so there's no reason to believe another term in office would produce a better alternative.
"So why don’t more people see Trump as a ridiculous braggart?"
