Tottenham star admits he is still not ‘100 per cent fit’ ahead of Luton Town clash

In what comes as a worrying development ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Luton Town, Richarlison has told the Brazilian media that he is still not 100 per cent fit.

Richarlison missed Tottenham’s matches against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa earlier this month due to a knee injury but he did make his comeback against Fulham head of the international break, coming on as a substitute towards the dying stages of the encounter.

The striker was an unused substitute for Brazil in their friendlies against both Spain and England during the international break.

Tottenham’s Richarlison is still not fully fit

Following the Selecao’s draw with Spain, Richarlison spoke to the press and explained the reason why he was not involved in either game.

The Tottenham man told UOL: “I spoke to the manager. He understood that I’m not 100% fit. I’ve been feeling my knee a bit. Even with the day-to-day effort, I felt it. I’m happy with the team’s performance, though. We grew a lot in the two games and now I’ll recover well.”

UOL say that Brazil manager Dorival Junior very much appreciates Richarlison despite his non-selection against Spain and Brazil.

Dorival is said to be pleased with the 26-year-old’s ‘dedication’ to the national team, with the player said to have made a ‘tremendous effort’ to be involved after his latest injury.

The publication adds that the staff also appreciate Richarlison for the way the helps the youngsters in the squad.

While Postecoglou will be pleased that Richarlison did not feature during the international break, the Australian is unlikely to risk playing the Brazilian against Luton if he is not 100 per cent fit. So we will probably see Son leading the line once again.
