HVCC students learn about skilled labor opportunities at career fair
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Students at Hudson Valley Community College got the chance to jump into the technology field on Thursday during the Applied Technology Career Fair. Students met with dozens of national and regional companies to learn more about trades professions.
It comes at a time when skilled labor is in short supply all across the country. One company said college partnerships really help them keep a steady flow of employees.
"We've been heavily involved with HVCC ECM program for the last couple of years," SABIC and HVIC Site Supervisor Kevin Martin said. "Most of our crew are ECM graduates and we're big supporters of the program. And they do a good job supplying entry level technicians that we can then train into the roles we have open."
According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the labor force is down two million workers since 2020.
