Amsterdam woman accused of welfare fraud
AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Amsterdam woman is accused of receiving over $5,000 worth of benefits she wasn't entitled to. Dieska Rivera, 41, faces multiple charges.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Department of Social Services, and Montgomery County District Attorney's Office ran a joint investigation that resulted in the arrest of Rivera. Law enforcement says Rivera filed a SNAP application and didn't disclose all the people living in her household, as well as income earned.
Rivera is accused of receiving $5,770 in SNAP benefits she wasn't entitled to.
Charges:
- Third-degree welfare fraud
- First-degree offering a false instrument for filing
Rivera was processed at the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and is held pending arraignment.
