Troy man charged with illegal handgun possession
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Troy Police Department announced the arrest of Imeek Echols, 18, of Troy, following a traffic stop. Echols was charged with second and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
On March 27, police conducted a traffic stop on Sixth Avenue between Swift Street and Douw Street. While interviewing the vehicle's two occupants, police say that the passenger, identified as Echols, was allegedly found to be in possession of a loaded illegal handgun with a high-capacity magazine.
Echols was arrested and processed at Troy Police's Central Station. He was held for arraignment at the Troy City Court before being remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail. The car's driver was issued several traffic tickets and released.
