Rishabh Pant SLAPPED With Fine of Rs 12 Lakh as Delhi Capitals Breach IPL Code of Conduct During Win vs CSK
Vizag: Despite the big win for Delhi Capitals on Sunday night, not everything went according to plan. DC captain Rishabh Pant, who came up with his heroics with the bat, was unfortunately slapped with a hefty fine of Rs 12 lakhs. Pant was fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their match against CSK. As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences.
This was the second instance of a team captain being fined after IPL side maintained a slow over rate during the match. Gujarat Titans’ Shubman Gill incurred a similar fate, as he was also charged with a fine of INR 12 lakh for the same offence during the IPL 2024 match against the Chennai Super Kings at the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai last Tuesday.
“We’ve learnt from our mistake. He’s been working hard from last two weeks (Shaw). We thought it’s time to give him a chance and he flourished. It will depend on match to match, but if Mukesh can bowl at the death it’ll be great. As a cricketer I’ve to give my 100 percent. Took some time initially as I haven’t played much cricket in the last 1.5 years. This is something I’ve depended my life on. Always had the self-belief that whatever happens, it’s important to come back to the ground,” Pant said after the win.
Capitals would be playing their next game against KKR on April 3 in the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
