The episode featured Margherita Taylor and Matt Baker exploring the Trent Valley.

Adam Henson checked out a serious problem with a deadly livestock disease that’s hitting farms all over the country, including his flock of sheep.

He said: “the Schmallenberg virus spread by midges has been found across British farms.

“It can affect several livestock species, including sheep, cattle, and goats, and has devastating consequences for pregnancies in the animals, causing fetal deformities and stillbirths.”

However, viewers were left seriously distracted by Adam’s appearance as they notice a small mark on his face.

Taking to social media, one fan asked: “@BBCCountryfile I missed the start of today’s programme what has poor Adam done to his face?”

Another wrote: “Has Adam been kicked in the face by a rare breed #Countryfile.”

A third penned: “Adam looks like he’s developed a birthmark on his right cheek since his last appearance!”

The Gloucestershire based farmer released his second children’s book in March.

He is answering some of the most interesting questions children have about farming in his brand-new book Curious Questions from Adam’s Farm.

The beautifully illustrated new book covers everything from what time farmers start their day to how milk ends up in your cereal bowl. It offers children a valuable peek into farm life and the work of farmers.

Some intriguing questions answered in the book include how to tell if animals are happy or sad, whether cows can predict rain, if kids can drive tractors, and how farms grow ingredients like those used in birthday cake and breakfast cereal.

Adam is not only a passionate advocate for farmers but also works tirelessly to promote mental health in the industry and inspire young people to consider farming careers.

Countryfile is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
