Siena offering teach-out opportunities for St. Rose students
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Siena College has received approval to offer two teach-out programs for students of the College of Saint Rose. The teach-out programs will be for students with a bachelor of science and a master of science in education, (M.S.Ed.) and in early childhood and childhood education (birth-6th grade).
The school is awaiting approval from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education which is expected shortly. Both teach-out programs will be effective until January 1, 2025, and will only be offered to students previously enrolled at St. Rose.
Siena is looking into other new teach-out programs in other majors including adolescent education for English, mathematics, and social studies.
“There is a serious demand in our region and nationally for preschool and elementary school teachers,” said Siena Provost Margaret E. Madden, Ph.D. “These new teach-out agreements will enable former St. Rose students to complete their degrees on schedule so they can enter the education workforce prepared to make a difference in the classroom.”
“Siena is a private liberal arts college with a faith-based tradition like St. Rose, and we are confident that their students who select our teach-out plan will quickly find a sense of community on their new campus,” she said.
