An Indian villager was killed and another injured in Tripura's Sepahijala district after the Border Security Force (BSF) fired to disperse a group of attackers along the India-Bangladesh border. The BSF stated that the incident occurred when around 30 to 40 Indian smugglers, violating the border curfew, attempted to smuggle contraband items to Bangladesh. The mob attacked BSF personnel, leading to injuries on both sides. The BSF fired in self-defence and to protect government property, resulting in the death of one assailant and injuries to another.
